You never stop crawling. You only steer. That is the entire control scheme and we have made peace with it.

Every level-up staples another part onto your body — acid spitters, spore puffs, tail stingers, resonators, hearts, one gland whose entire job is exploding. Where you put them genuinely matters, which is the only serious sentence in this description. Outer lanes eat the hits. Neighbours buff each other. Some parts merge into bigger, stupider parts.

Then the walls slam shut and a RIVAL WORM turns up to settle it. It has its own build. It is also thick. One of you leaves.

Damage is permanent, by the way. Dead bits leave scars that never grow back, so by minute nine you are piloting a magnificent disaster held together by optimism and one very tired heart.
